Aunt Ernestine had never been part of something like this. It wasn’t like she couldn’t control the situation, but it just took a bit of working. She heard a noise and knew Emma was coming down to see how things were. “He’s okay, sweetie. We just have to deliver this baby and capture the guy all in one fell swoop.”

Emma blew her nose and came up and took her aunt’s hand. “It’s nothing beyond us,” she said as she took a deep breath.

Ernestine smiled. “I think I know how we can do it.” She started to chant and pull words and phrases out of the air like she was pulling books off the shelf at a bookstore.

Cas directed Billy, the captor, to give Jill some sips of water with ice chips. He did and then the woman started to bear down again and moan.

“What’s happening?” Billy asked.

Cas, with a gloved hand, told the woman what he was about to do and then slipped his hand up in to see how far she was dilated. “She is about to give birth. I need you to put that rifle down over against the wall and help her by giving her more ice chips,” Cas said.

Billy the captor looked like he had heard Cas speaking in another language but then finally did put his rifle down.

“Okay, Jill lean on your co-workers here and Susanna, I’m going to try and check you and the baby after this next contraction.”

Jill nodded, took a couple ice chips in her mouth and then started to moan. “Oh, my, fuck.” She spread her legs, bore down, and started to push. “I feel like pushing.”

Cas waited while he watched her face. “Hold on, let me see where the cord is in relation to the baby’s neck.” He slipped his finger in, nodded his head and smiled. “We are all set to go. On the next contraction, push.”

Cas could see Susanna trying to stay focused with Jill but he saw her eyes stray to the rifle.

“Susanna, don’t do it.”

Susanna shook her head. “Believe me, I am not thinking of that.”

Jill pushed and Cas caught the top of the baby’s head. The baby was crowning. “Good, now don’t push, just breathe through this for a second. Pretty soon you are going to give one more push and the baby will be here.”

Jill held onto Susanna while her co-workers supported her.

“Do you feel the urge, Jill?”

Jill nodded her head.

“Okay when the urge comes, push and the baby is going slide right out.”

Susanna watched the man. He was getting whiter by the second. “Auntie, are you ready?”

“I’m ready baby,” Aunt Tiny said.

Jill pushed and moaned at the same time and as the baby was born and Cas brought the new baby up. Billy the captor took one look at the baby and fell backwards and passed out.

Cas turned the baby over and rubbed its little back and the baby gave out a lusty scream. Jill started to sob. Susanna let go of Jill’s hands and ran over to the captor.
